I havent drawn with charcoal for years and it was interesting for me that i while i was drawing the pears today...i was paying much more attention to the contrast between dark and light areas. A lot of squinting went on!! I think its because of the 'blackness' of the charcoal. I dont like smudging...i prefer good firm lines...enjoying these a lot!

    i would have to say that i love that you had a hard time w/ the charcoal [the teacher in me] - that pushes your boundaries... and the results are so lovely and soft....
