Today we began our lesson with a drawing of a toy wooden cow...
after the first drawing i asked Yuval to draw another one but this time really look at the toy..we compared drawings afterwards and she noticed some extra details and more accuracy in the second one.

Then i gave Yuval a piece of A2 paper, sheets of coloured paper, newspaper scraps, glue and a hole punch and i asked her to make a picture taking into mind the negative space on the page...

Yuval enjoyed making lots of circles with the hole punch and she loves playing with the glue...she tore up the coloured paper and started sticking them randomly on the page.

She had no particular image in mind and continued dipping her hand in the glue and sticking the squares on the page...i decided to let her be free and not restrict her to something more specific...i noticed that she was creating groups with the squares...quite interesting to see how she reacts to a large white space....

oh i love it! the before and after comparison is quite striking...

but the free multi-media art is my favorite, i love how the scraps are clumped together...

looks like a celebration to me, fireworks?

I love Yuval's two drawings, the first one is very structual and the added detail is lovely. Great scrap paper piece too, remind me of parties.

the idea of repeating the same subject when drawing and then comparing the them is quite interesting and important. the details and accuracy as marks of an evolution in observation.
I like the scattered bits of coloured paper and the freedom that you can see in that exercise.
