Its been a while since my last pear...suddenly today i had an urge to get out my oil pastels... i havent drawn with these for a long time! Oil pastels are great to draw with...i see them as a cross between painting and drawing - i love how the colours mix wonderfully!!! I always feel i can go wild with oil pastels for some reason but i also sometimes get frustrated when i cant control the medium to produce a sharp line! Not sure about this sketch...but enjoyed doing it!

such warm glowy colours...more like paintas you say...does anything work when used over the pastel for sharper lines? it's been ages since i tried using oil pastels...it's always fun to use a medium that's been stowed away :)

hope you're feeling better by the way! x

i have the same thing with pastels (any not only oil), it always feels like a mess. your sketch has a little bit more of a painterly feel compared to the others and it doesn't miss the sharp line one bit!

I remember using oil pastels at school, they are quite messy to work with but lots of fun. Your sketch is great beautiful use of colours, bright and cheery.

Soft pastels are hard work and very messy but you seem to master them well.

ps: it's so good to see you producing a regular body of work.
