A very good friend of mine is going away..on a journey of discovery...she is a writer..very talented - and she is starting her travels in India. I made her a writers travel box - items included inside will be a Moleskine (obviously!) a pen, a precious stone (agate) another little notepad and a gluestick (to create little mood collages - Marieke style) and some incense to create the mood... The poem is the section on Self-Knowledge - from Kahlil Gibran's 'The Prophet'. Im so proud of you D...you are going to have a wonderful adventure...

I think ive finished this piece for now...i will start a new one...

And here is a small piece for my nature wall - i LOVE embroidery in wood!!
Im looking for the perfect old found wooden table to embroider...

Happy Thursday and thanks for the feedback and help lately xxx

What a lovely gift to your friend, hope she has a great inspirational time in India. How does one embroider wood? (decor8 has been writing entries about this new trend-using embroideries in everything)

lovely box... i too like embroidering wood :) it's such a neat effect - have you tried it on veneer?? [that's the thin stuff you glue on top]

What a lovely gift! And I'm so curious how do you embroider on wood? especially on a wooden table top? I'm guessing you have to drill...? Cool project.

What a wonderful gift! A gluestick is THE necessary tool indeed :-)

And what would one do without a Moleskine?

Thank you for the compiments...some of you are asking how to embroider on wood..well, as Lisa mentioned, i have used veneer - its very thin and quite delicate. I would love to do a table where i would obviously drill holes. Sometimes i use drawing pins to makes holes in soft wood.
